What is Life Coaching?
Life Coaching evolved in the late 1980’s initially in the USA. It is an active process to set goals and sustain enthusiasm & motivation to achieve them.
What is a Life Coach?
A Life Coach is a professionally qualified person who can help you move towards a better life. You may already have very specific ideas about what you want to achieve or what needs changing, or you may need help establishing these. A Life Coach is there to help you assess the various aspects of your life and help you decide how you want to move forward.
How many Life Coaches are there?
There are approximately 3000 Life Coaches in the UK and 20,000 Life Coaches in the USA.
Why is Life Coaching important in today’s world?
Traditional sources of immediate help ie family have become less available due to families becoming dispersed, which makes help, support and advice far less readily available.
How long is a session?
A session usually lasts about an hour.
How many sessions will I need?
Usually a minimum of 4 sessions. There is no maximum duration and some successful coaching relationships last for years!
How frequently should I have a session?
A minimum of monthly, but in the early stages, it may be weekly.
How many goals will I work on?
You will usually agree a single major goal and will work with your Life Coach on that.
How will I achieve my goal?
With your Life Coach you will refine your goal and make a detailed plan to move you closer to that goal. Each session, you will agree an action plan with your Coach and you will work on that plan between sessions.
Will my session remain confidential?
All sessions are completely confidential.
Do I have to have a face to face session or can I have telephone coaching?
You can either have face to face sessions or if it is easier for you, you can arrange telephone coaching sessions.
How do I pay?
If your session is face to face, you can pay on the day (cheque or cash). If you arrange telephone coaching, payment will be required in advance.
Is there a guarantee?
As there are so many variables in life, there can be no specific guarantee to achievement of your goals. Inevitably unforeseen problems may arise and these will be addressed by you and your Life Coach together. Changes in plan will be made where appropriate. Your coach’s experience and training will help you find and work on removal of your limiting beliefs. They will boost your confidence, build your motivation and create a sense of clarity over what needs to be achieved.
